The first English lesson for graduate students was on Wednesday (September 23, 2026). My teacher shared three effective methods for learning English, which made a deep impression on me.
Get plenty of comprehensive input
Firstly, get plenty of comprehensive input. Read or listen to English materials that are slightly above your current level (n+1). By reading or listening to a large amount of English materials, you will develop your own reading, listening, and writing styles. Focus on understanding, not just grammar drills.
Repeat words in context
Secondly, repeat words in context. Learning new words in context is more beneficial than learning them alone. When words appear in context, they are more memorable than simply reciting their Chinese meanings.
Produce your own language
Thirdly, produce your own language. The ability to understand English does not reflect the ability to speak or write. If you want to master a language, you should use what you have learned to create your own sentences and produce your own language.
